What to Expect, See, and Do

Explore the immersive rooms

The Harry Potter Singapore experience includes 10 stunning immersive rooms that bring the wizarding world to life with enchanting visuals, interactive magic, and spellbinding effects.

1. The Knight Bus

When we stepped onto The Knight Bus, the walls seemed to stretch and lurch like the triple-decker bus just screeched to a stop. The flickering lights and eerie reflections in the windows felt like we were rushing through London at breakneck speed.

Add to that the immersive soundscape of honking horns and the funny voiceover of conductor Stan Shunpike and the ride became even wilder and more magical.

2. Grimmauld Place

Media from reneeethatsme

The air of Grimmauld Place’s room was thick with the weight of old magic, with walls featuring moving framed portraits and spectral murmurs all around us. It felt like a house that never sleeps.

The enchanted family tree twisted and pulsed. The flickering candlelights on the walls revealed names on the tree that seemed to whisper their cursed histories.

3. Ministries of Magic

I dislike bureaucracy as much as the next taxpayer, but somehow, the Ministries of Magic’s version seemed…tolerable. Enchanted, even.

Each Ministry had its unique aura featuring flickering fireplaces, shifting corridors, and towering golden statues. As I waved my wand, glowing symbols and hidden messages were revealed, telling me the secrets of the wizarding world’s most powerful institutions.

4. The Hall of Prophecy

I was immediately surrounded by glowing orbs inside The Hall of Prophecy, each one pulsing with secrets. The room’s mirrored walls seemed to stretch into infinity.

The orbs reacted with an eerie blue glow when I reached out, and some started whispering forgotten prophecies (most of which I couldn’t quite catch). It was both a chilling and mesmerising experience.

5. The Chamber of Secrets

The air in The Chamber of Secrets (exclusive to the HP Singapore experience!) was damp and eerie. It highlighted the creepy serpent carvings slithering along the walls.

Parseltongue whispers in the room made it feel as if the towering pillars of the chamber were alive. I was pretty sure the Heir of Slytherin would make an appearance at any moment!

6. Newt’s Menagerie

Ever wondered how it would feel to tumble straight into Newt Scamander’s enchanted suitcase? Enter Newt’s Menagerie and find out! Magical creatures will stir in their “natural” habitats alongside lush greenery, glowing burrows, and shimmering cages.

A flick of the wand reveals Newt’s notes and sketches springing to life while Nifflers scurry about through treasure piles. The room itself feels like a living, breathing fantastic beast waiting to be discovered.

7. Knockturn Alley

Was it my imagination, or did the air turn a lot colder the moment I stepped into Knockturn Alley? When I passed by Borgin & Burke’s storefront, it flickered with cursed artefacts. Something rattled as if desperate to escape.

As I reached out, some enchanted objects reacted with either ominous glowing or scuttled away. That was where I first felt dark magic lurking, so I proceeded with caution.

8. The Room of Requirement

As it was described in the books, the Room of Requirement had towering stacks of forgotten artefacts looking as if they would topple over any minute. It felt like the space knew exactly what I was looking for (a way out as I was feeling claustrophobic, actually).

Every step I took seemed to trigger something new in this room. A vanishing cabinet hummed with energy, a rustling pile of books rearranged itself, and the very walls seemed to breathe!

9. The Trap Door

Hearing the monstrous three-headed Fluffy’s deep growls vibrating through the air told me I was near The Trap Door, another Harry Potter room unique to Singapore.

When I stepped into it, I felt the floor tremble to signal that I was to embark on a scary quest. Each chamber beneath it held a new challenge. I had to go past creeping vines that threatened to smother me before I could even think about moving forward!

10. The Pensieve

The air inside The Pensive room shimmered with swirling silver memories, and when I tried to touch them, the memories reacted, shifting and flickering as if inviting me deeper into wizards’ secrets.

The liquid-like floor rippled, revealing glimpses of significant wizarding events in a mesmerising 360-degree display. If you want to literally get lost in thought, this is the place to be.

Try the interactive wand experiences

Once you get inside the venue, you’ll be handed a magic wand (on loan only!) by a smiling attendant.

Hold on to that for dear life because it’s an interactive wand with hidden symbols that glow and can crack doors open, and make enchanted objects spring to life!

I used it to summon whispers in the Hall of Prophecy and uncover hidden runes in Knockturn Alley. It was a bit of a wrench when I had to return the wand when I exited the exhibition.

Grab exclusive Harry Potter merch

Back in the land of the Muggles, I still found a treasure trove of wizarding collectables at the retail shop. There were plush Hedwig replicas, different types of wands, house scarves, themed apparel, and other limited-edition merchandise begging to be bought.

I bought a bespoke wand and a shimmering Time-Turner to show off to my friends. I think I’ll come back for the Marauder’s Map or a personalised Hogwarts acceptance letter to sustain my witchy aspirations!

Down some butterbeer

To complete the HP experience, I highly suggest trying the butterbeer with its rich butterscotch flavour and creamy froth. There are two variants: a slushy version and a classic draught straight from the tap.

Either way, it’s a sweet fizzy drink that leaves a magical moustache when you down it. I loved it so much that I bought several bottled butterbeers from the retail store to take home!
