Ki Teppan & Rogama elevated my teppanyaki experience by using a binchotan grill to give my meal a rich, smokey depth. Watching Wagyu and seafood sizzle over the open flame made every bite even more satisfying.

The open-kitchen setup let me catch every flick of the chef’s wrist as he turned simple ingredients into something incredible.

Pro-tip: The restaurant takes wine pairings seriously, so don’t hesitate to ask the staff for recommendations.

Hours: Daily, noon–2.30 PM, 5.30–10.30 PM

Teppan Works brings Osaka’s lively teppanyaki scene to Singapore with sizzling Wagyu and a laid-back vibe. The counter seating put me right in front of the action, making every flip of the spatula part of the experience.

Its signature Wagyu is a solid pick, but the affordable lunch specials make this spot a not-so-intimidating one.

Pro-tip: Try wallet-friendly teppanyaki lunch sets that include juicy Wagyu beef, garlic butter chicken, or seared salmon, plus rice, miso soup, and sides.

Teppanyaki meets pure showmanship at Tatsu Teppanyaki in CHIJMES. The chefs flip, sear, and serve up Wagyu, lobster, and king prawns with flair right before my eyes.

The lively, interactive setup makes every meal feel like a front-row seat to a culinary performance act. With plenty of seating, it’s great for both intimate dinners and group gatherings.

Pro-tip: Pair your meal with premium whisky or sake from the restaurant’s collection for a refined meal.

Hours: Monday to Saturday: 11 AM–3 PM and 5–11 PM

Seiwaa Okonomiyaki & Teppanyaki offers a fun and hands-on Japanese dining experience. I can opt to grill my own okonomiyaki or watch the chefs expertly working the teppan.

The casual vibe here makes it ideal for group or family gatherings. Plus, the teppanyaki dishes are affordable and come in generous servings, so share away!

Pro-tip: Try flipping your own okonomiyaki for added enjoyment (don’t worry, you won’t get demerits for not-so-perfect shapes!).

Benihana

Hours:

  • Saturday to Sunday, 11.30 AM–10 PM

Price: $$

For me, Benihana nails the balance between good food and a good show. The chefs here put on a full performance while grilling meats, seafood, and even veggies with the flair of Vegas magicians.

If you’ve never had your dinner served with flying shrimp tails and flaming onions, check this place out. It’s loud, lively, and perfect for celebratory group gatherings.

Pro-tip: Pair your meal with a cold glass of Asahi or a glass of plum wine to round out the experience.

Shima Restaurant

Address: Floor 1 Goodwood Park Hotel, 22 Scotts Road
Contact: +6567346281
Hours: Daily, noon–2.30 PM, 6–10.30 PM

Shima is the best place for me when it comes to classic teppanyaki done right. It’s pretty pricey here, but the lunch sets are a great way to experience the teppanyaki finesse without blowing away my food budget.

There are no gimmicks, just solid techniques and top-tier ingredients like Wagyu and seafood. For dinner, it’s all about slow, deliberate cooking and deep, traditional flavours that don’t require flash.

Pro-tip: Try the teppan-style Wagyu beef sirloin with just salt and pepper—simple but insanely flavourful!

Keyaki

Address: 7 Raffles Blvd, Level 4 Pan Pacific Singapore
Contact: +6568268240
Hours: Daily, 11.30 AM–2.30 PM, 6–10 PM
Price: $$$

Keyaki feels like a quiet escape from the city. The moment I stepped into its garden-lined entrance, everything seemed to slow down.

The teppanyaki here reflects its calmness, with polished and precise techniques and premium cuts of beef and seafood grilled to perfection. It’s the kind of place where the chef doesn’t just cook but curates the experience for diners.

Pro-tip: A glass of cold, dry sake goes well with the Wagyu teppan steak.

MinSuiZen Raku Omakase Teppanyaki

Hours: Daily, 11.30 AM–3.30 PM, 5.30–10 PM

I was not exactly rolling in dough when I found myself at MinSuiZen Raku Omakase Teppanyaki one time. Luckily, it was offering S$88 omakase menus which were a treat as everything was thoughtful, balanced, and beautifully plated.

It also helped that Chef Deon Tan was chatty and cheerful. He talked with us while dishing out a gorgeous prawn dish that was nicely seared and not at all rubbery.

Pro-tip: You can ask for extra garlic fried rice for free!

MIYOSHI by Fat Cow

Hours: Wednesday to Sunday, 11.30 AM–3 PM, 6–10 PM
Price: $$

If you’re at MIYOSHI, you’ll need to try the garlic fried rice because it’s packed with flavour and doesn’t scrimp on the garlic. I usually get the A4 beef for its great marbling, along with some big and juicy scallops.

Honestly, the beef was so melt-in-your-mouth good that I didn’t want to share. Watching the chefs work with such fresh ingredients made the whole event more interactive and fun, too.

Pro-tip: End your meal on a sweet note with some refreshing matcha ice cream with warabi mochi.

Ajiya Okonomiyaki Restaurant

Facebook
Address: 104 Jln Jurong Kechil
Contact: +6564633461
Hours: Tuesday to Sunday, noon–2.15 PM, 5–9.15 PM
Price: $$

At Ajiya, I sat on the counter and got to watch the chefs cook the okonomiyaki right in front of me, though there’s an option to DIY it with your own sauces. It felt just like being in Osaka, thanks to the cosy and rustic vibes of the place.

They asked me for my preferences for the fresh ingredients, and I liked that I was able to get three toppings for free! Plus the sides are solid, too: the pork gyoza and chicken karaage were practically meals on their own.

Pro-tip: The place doesn’t accept reservations, so come early to secure a table.

Yamagawa Japanese Restaurant

Website
Address: 7500A Beach Rd, #01-305 The Plaza
Contact: +6562991175
Hours:

  • Monday to Friday, 11.30 AM–2.30 PM, 6–10 PM
  • Saturday to Sunday, noon–3 PM, 6–10 PM

Price: $$

Yamagawa’s teppanyaki chef didn’t put on a flashy show when we were there, but his cooking was spot on: simple, precise, and delicious. On some days, I prefer this kind of quiet, no-frills teppanyaki when I just want to enjoy a good meal in peace.

Tucked away just outside the city buzz, this place feels like a hidden gem. It also serves everything from sashimi and sushi to tempura and teppanyaki all under one roof, so it’s a great date place.

Pro-tip: For drinks, go with a chilled Junmai Daiginjo sake to complement the clean and delicate flavours of the teppanyaki and sushi here.

Nanjya Monjya Waterfront

Nanjya Monjya Waterfront was a great find as our dog could comfortably hang out with us in the spacious outdoor area. My dad and brother loved the okonomiyaki and monjayaki and we had fun customising our orders with all-seafood and all-meat combos.

If you want to do your own grilling, sit inside where the tables come with hotplates. But if you’re after a breezy night out, the alfresco seating gives off relaxed izakaya vibes by the water.

Pro-tip: Check out the large manga collection here to keep kids (and adults) entertained while waiting for your food!
